Are you getting enough fibre?  The average adult should really be having at least 20 g of fibre in their diet everyday.  Fibre is great because it helps to make you feel full but isn’t digested in the intestine, and has been proven to have health benefits such as lowering the risk of cardiovascular diesease and may reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Look at the nutrition labels on foods, reduce your intake of high fat and high salt foods.  Try and avoid making drastic changes to your diet all at once, focus on making one or two changes, and progressively improving it over time.  This will help your body to adjust and make it easier to adopt the changes long-term.

Drink lots of water, this is not only good for flushing out your body but also filling you up.

Aim to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.  Add colour to your plate.

Dont eat so quickly! Fatty and sugary foods tend to take the longest when it comes to triggering the stomach to tell your brain that you have had enough.

Get your heart rate up and keep it up. Have a regular exercise routine in place 5 days per week of at least 20 minutes.  Each week up your exercise time and don’t forget to stretch.  Endurance training burns a lot of kilojoules and also trains the body to be more effecient at burning fat (even when your not exercising.
